Join Me For Lunch: Versatile Asian Salad

This salad has been a staple in my kitchen for at least two weeks now!  It's so delicious I don't think I will ever be tired of it.

Something I love about salads is their versatility.  If you don't like something about a salad you can skip or replace that component with virtually no risk.   That's why with this salad recipe I have included a list of other ingredients that might be interesting to add or substitute.  Be creative and play with your food!

Tammy Salzl

Tammy Salzl is a painter from Edmonton, Alberta working on her MFA at Concordia University in MontrĂ©al.  Her work is currently being exhibited at the FOFA Gallery in MontrĂ©al.  I attended the FOFA show, and an artist talk that she gave in a class that I am enrolled in.

Her work is juicy, tactile, and relates directly to the squidgy, oozing nature of oil paint.  Her work deals with issues regarding the environment, gender, mutation and the body.  I admire her ability to combine these topics, and have them displayed so clearly in the medium of painting.

You can visit her website here, to view more images of her work and her artist statement.

Forever

It is an important sentiment to remember that growing doesn't stop; it goes on forever.
Happy Valentines Day.

Wooden

My obsession with all things wooden continues!  How sweet would it be to give or receive a wooden valentine for valentines day?  I do wish there was real chocolate in this though...

I have also been liking the look of wood working tools, so these vintage tool pendants are right up my ally.  I think that if you clustered them together on chains of different lengths, they'd look really cool.

Wooden

Recently I have noticed that I have been taken with the texture of wood, and the use of wood in design and art works.

Check out this interactive robotic sculpture made by Daniel Rozin.  He uses video combined with a moving sculpture made of wood to give the illusion of a mirror:

On the design side of things, I would really love to snuggle up in to a wooden blanket one of these days:

Check out where to get this wooden blanket on Elisa Strozyk's website.
